Monocypher is a cryptographic library. It provides functions for authenticated encryption, hashing, password hashing and key derivation, key exchange, and public key signatures.

Unison is a file-synchronization tool for POSIX-compliant systems (e.g. BSDs, GNU/Linux, macOS) and Windows. It allows two replicas of a collection of files and directories to be stored on different hosts (or different disks on the same host), modified separately, and then brought up to date by propagating the changes in each replica to the other.

(Also, this link uses html-preview.github.io, which seems to be a useful service in itself.)

The Python interpreter has a number of functions and types built into it that are always available.

If what I'm looking for isn't here, it's probably in itertools.

Source of the idea of using ASCII control characters for markup. I'm not comfortable with using stuff that could be part of the input text, and random Unicode characters are inconvenient, but why not ^V^N and ^V^O for Shift Out and Shift In?

My first sense of enchantment with the nooks and crannies of ASCII came from the U+000E <SO> and U+000F <SI> characters. These were, in the Teletype era, designed to shift the two-color printer ribbon: “out” to red, for emphasis, and then back “in”, to black, for normal text.

ASCII also gifted us this cluster of control characters in its legacy:
